Pier 14 Apartments

Type: Residential
Completion: 2019
Size: 2 400 m²
Client: Growthpoint Properties

The project showcases modern adaptive re-use of inner-city urban layer into contextually-relevant spatial use. A largely disused, 4-storey office building situated on top of a multi-level shopping centre in Central, Gqeberha was converted into 111, income-generating, nano-apartments aimed at the affordable rental market.

A major draw card was the convenient location, close to major transport routes, parks, restaurants, shopping, and other key amenities. This made the development attractive to young professionals and thus highly feasible.

The apartments, which range from 18m² – 32m², are compact yet efficient in their layout, featuring a minimalist, industrial aesthetic. The finishes are modern with high-end security in the form of 24/7 on-site guards, bio-metric access control and CCTV surveillance.
