Parcel N, V&A Waterfront, Fuel Station
Type: Retail & Showroom
Completion: 2022
Size: 1 560 m²
Client: V&A Waterfront Company
Astron Fuel Station is located at the entrance to the V&A Waterfront Cape Town. The existing Caltex Fuel Station was decommissioned and demolished on the neighbouring M1 Site to make way for a Corporate Office Building.
The Concept for the Fuel Station was informed by the Site’s triangular shape and was modelled after “a pebble in the water”. This mimicked the soft turning movements of vehicles. Natural Material selection including off-shutter concrete, stone cladding, timber, was an important design driver to deal with the harsh climatic conditions of the coast.
