The Long Beach Hotel at Belle Mare on the east coast of Mauritius is set on an amazing, one kilometre long stretch of white, sandy beach overlooking the reefs of the Indian Ocean. The client’s brief was for a five-star, ultra-modern resort centred around a “carefree piazza-style” resort living concept that is both cool and playful. The hotel comprises 255 spacious, sea-facing suites, together with four pools offering a variety of experiences for all guests, including a lap pool, children’s pool, a heated adult-only pool, and Turkish-style baths in the exclusive spa garden. At the heart of the resort, the Piazza is surrounded by five stylish restaurants offering al fresco dining experiences and live entertainment , as well as retail boutiques and a nightclub completing the village atmosphere. Previously known as the Coco Beach Hotel , the existing structures were demolished in 2009 to make way for the striking and contemporary architectural design of the Long Beach Resort, which was voted the winner of the World’s Luxury Hotel Awards, 2013.
